News Release........June 4, 2017.......MM nominated for 2017 Josie Music Award
Mike received notification this week that he has been nominated for Artist/Group of the Year in the category of Outlaw Country Music. The Josie Music Awards recognize the talent of independent artists. The awards ceremony will be held on September 17th at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN. from 3pm-7pm. Red carpet arrivals begin at noon. Currently waiting on word whether Mike and his band will be performing. MM is honored to have received this nomination.
News Release...........June 4, 2017......MM is Back!
After a couple years of adversity, Mike McCarroll is back with a new band and new music. A couple of years back the Mike McCarroll Band lost two key musicians. Lead guitarist Perry Ray Boyce passed away from a brain tumor. Perry was a former member of rock icons Steppenwolf and was a tremendous player with tons of stage presence. A few months later, keyboardist Frank Domico suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Needless to say, these losses devastated the band. Mike played a few shows with pickup players, then decided to put live shows on hold for awhile to write and record a fourth album.
The new album is close to completion and due out late summer or early fall 2017. Mike has put a new band together and is currently booking shows for this fall and onward to promote the new album. News Release........July 15, 2012...........Mike McCarroll Records Two Songs with Members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section
MM has begun recording his third album, yet to be titled. Three songs have been completed on the new project. The first two songs were recorded with Atlanta Rhythm Section members Paul Goddard, Dean Daughtry, and Steve Stone. The first one is an old ARS song that Mike covers with ARS playing on it. The second is one written by a Nashville songwriter recorded in ARS southern rock style. The third song completed is a political/patriotic song titled "Anti Anti-American Rag" which will be released in late August as an early single release and available as a free download.

Mike McCarroll will open for the hot new Nashville country duo McKinley and Beggs on Saturday July 16, 2011 at The Local concert venue at Sidelines in Marietta, GA. In 2008, Mel Tillis – a true country icon – heard the demos that came from the amazing minds of McKinley & Beggs and called them in for a meeting. There, in a moment that must’ve felt like a dream, Mel Tillis looked at these two men and delivered the unforgettable words, “You guys have got it!”
The Florida-based duo moved to Nashville and became part of a songwriting team with another legend Hank Cochran who was the mastermind songwriter behind hits like Patsy Cline’s, “I Fall to Pieces,” which is still a favorite among all country performers and fans. Starting in the 1960’s, Hank Cochran became a prolific songwriter working with not just Cline, but also extreme talents like Ray Price, Eddy Arnold, and many more. Not to mention through the years of 1962-1980, Hank also became a beloved recording artist scoring seven times on Billboard magazine’s country music charts. Florida Magazine rated McKinley & Beggs as one of the top three entertaining bands that originated from Florida. The popular groups, Matchbox 20 and Creed, rounded out the list.

Press Release..April 12, 2010...Just back after playing a showcase to record labels in Nashville, TN, west Georgia-based country music singer/songwriter Mike McCarroll and his band WON a battle of the bands Saturday night at the Vinyl club in Atlanta. The multi-genre event was a competition against 10 bands and was hosted by Gorilla Productions. MM rocked the house with original country songs from his 2007 debut album AT THE CROSSROADS and his new album scheduled for release in the next few weeks.
MM says “The odds were against us winning. First, our lead guitarist dropped out two weeks before the show -- and second – we were an older country band playing to a younger crowd of rockers in a venue that caters more to hard rock and heavy metal. But the band pulled together, took up the slack, and brought the house down. I’m very proud of the band and extremely grateful to all the screaming fans and supporters who came out to the show”.
Mike adds .. “It was really gratifying to see all those young folks getting into our brand of outlaw country music. Who knows...we might have even converted some those headbangers to country”
Now it’s on to finishing up Mike’s new “HONKY TONK DREAMS” album...scheduling a CD release concert and booking tour dates. “I’m really excited about the new album” Mike says. “It’s going to take the music to the next level”. The new album from Mike McCarroll is near completion. "Tracking is complete. We're mixing now and getting ready to master. It's taking a little longer than I anticipated but I want to make sure it's done right" MM says.
The new "Honky Tonk Dreams" album will feature several local and national talents that include Travis Tritt guitarist Wendell Cox, former Travis Tritt drummer David Northrup, Sara Evans/Pam Tillis fiddle player Bethany Olds, former gold-selling 80's band Atlanta guitarist Jody Worrell, and local Atlanta blues singer Valerie Barbin.
Mike says "We'll be scheduling a CD release party soon". I can't wait to get this CD out there....it's going to be a goooood one!!"
Mike's Nashville Showcase...UPDATE
Mike McCarroll and his band recently played a showcase for record labels in Nashville on March 15th. Mike says "The showcase went great. We got lots of positive feedback from the labels regarding the songs, the performance, the writing, crowd response, etc. They gave us a few tips for refining our act a little further and asked us to come back in a few months and do another showcase. We'll take that feedback..work on some things and next time...we'll knock it out of the park!!"
The band also had a great time in Nashville. "We checked out a few acts down on Broadway, got some great photos..etc...fun times!!"
Mike and the band are now prepping for a show at the Vinyl in downtown Atlanta on April 10th, then it's on to finishing the new album and scheduling a CD release show.

Mike McCarroll and his band have been contacted by a record label in Nashville and invited to come up to play a showcase. The showcase will be conducted on January 25, 2010 with an audience of numerous record label representatives from both major labels and independent labels. The audience will also include other music industry reps such as management firms, booking agents, radio promoters, etc.
Showcases are designed to present artists to record labels, promoters, and distributors to determine if they want to sign the artist to a record deal. The organization sponsoring the showcase is Nashville-based BWAM. a successful A&R firm that holds an impressive track record in getting artists signed. BWAM holds regular showcases in Nashville, London, and Canada.
Press Release ... September 4, 2009.........New MM Album .........Coming Soon!
Mike McCarroll's new CD is progressing well. The album is being recorded at studios in Nashville and Atlanta and is about 3/4 complete. "It's going to be a good one!" Mike says. "I've been really lucky to get some of the players that are on this album." Two members of Travis Tritt's band have contributed to several songs. Wendell Cox, long time Tritt guitarist has recorded some killer slide guitar and lead guitar tracks. David Northrup, long time drummer for Travis is doing most of the drum tracks for the CD.
Jody Worrell formerly with 80's country rock band Atlanta is back with some blazing lead and slide guitar tracks. Jody was featured on MM's debut album "At The Crossroads". MM's producer David Leonard is also an outstanding musician and has laid down some excellent guitar, keyboard, piano, bass and background vocal tracks.
As for the songs, most were written by MM. However, three songs have been selected for the album from Nashville songwriter Kim Williams. Mike says "I usually write and record my own stuff. But, Doug Stone gave me some songs from several Nashville writers to consider. There were three songs written by Kim Williams that exactly fit the outlaw country style I need for this CD. As soon as I heard them I knew I had to record them". Kim Williams is a well-established Nashville writer with mega hits such as "Three Wooden Crosses" by Randy Travis, several Garth Brooks hits including "Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up" and many more big hits.
No release date has been set and a title has not yet been selected. MM says "We still have 3 or 4 songs to record then it's on to mixing and mastering. I'm still writing on a couple of them and am looking for a great co-writer to help me out with at least one of them".
In addition to the new CD, Mike is putting together a new band to promote the album.
Press Release ... April 12, 2009..........New MM Album Underway
Producers and studios for MM's new CD have been selected and recording is underway. While yet to be titled, recording began at the end of January '09 in Nashville and Atlanta. "Some of the songs needed that Nashville sound" Mike says. "So I've been working with long time Nashville producer Jackie Cook at two different studios --one in White Bluff, TN and the other on Music Row".
Several other songs have been cut here in Atlanta under the direction of producer David Leonard. "David is an outstanding producer. He was in Nashville for many years then moved here to Atlanta. In addition to producing many great artists, he was also president of the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Atlanta Songwriters Association. His input and direction are invaluable to me in shaping the kind of sound and style I'm looking for. He keeps me on track" Mike says.
The new CD is slated for release sometime this summer.

Mike McCarroll is in the planning stages for a new album. He has already met with several producers in Nashville, Muscle Shoals AL, and Atlanta to discuss plans for recording a new CD.
Producers include Nashville-based Phil Lister, Larry Sheridan of Parlor Productions in Nashville (Hank Jr., Vince Gill, Kenny Chesney, George Jones, Jimmy Buffett, etc.), Jackie Cook at SongCellar studios in Nashville (T. Graham Brown, Delbert McClinton, Dobie Grey, Diamond Rio), Atlanta-based producer David Leonard, and legendary Muscle Shoals AL producer Jimmy Johnson (Lynyryd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, Blackfoot, Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, etc.)
MM says "No final decisions have yet been made on song selections or producers/studios but we're close".
The new album, yet to be titled, will build upon the success of his debut CD "At The Crossroads" by further solidifying MM's signature style and sound. Mike has completed writing most of the songs but is still "tweaking" a couple of them before laying down "scratch tracks" for the producer/session artists. There is also a possibility of including a song from some Nashville songwriters and maybe even a cover tune.
"I found a really great song in Nashville that was written by a couple of songwriters and published by a well-known music publisher, but was never released by anyone" Mike says. "If everything works out, I hope to record it and include it on the new album. This song could easily be a hit. I'm surprised nobody picked it up".
No schedule for recording or release has yet been established.
